Garand for my brother

Years ago when my brother left for Japan he put his car up for sale. Bigger is Better here had a garand up for sale. J liked my garand, and so a deal was struck- I gave him the rifle I was buying from Aaron as half payment for his car.

Around the same time I ordered a fancy maple wood stock set from Deans Gun Restorations. I sat on both the stock set (which I intended to use for myself) and the rifle for some time. Last summer I sold my Garand (still crying over it) and so a while back my eye fell on J's rifle sitting forlornly in the back of the safe. Meanwhile, the unfinished stock set I'd ordered had been out to Blue Monster for some finish, and was sitting idle itself waiting for a home.

I refinished the rifle and fit it with the new extra fancy maple. I'm quite pleased with it. I put pics up on J's facebook page so he and all his AF buddies could drool over it, and unfortunately due to my crashed drive at home I had to rip the smaller pics back off facebook to post here. I guess they're big enough.

The best part is that while J is overseas, all his guns live with me! Can't have that stuff in Japan, or Korea, and who knows about Italy. I guess I'll have to baby sit it for another 4 years. Terrible.
