From the 2008 Democratic platform draft as of August 7th:

"We can work together to enact and enforce common-sense laws and improvements, like closing the gun show loophole, improving our background check system and reinstating the assault weapons ban, so that guns do not fall into the hands of terrorists or criminals."

Firearms

We recognize that the right to bear arms is an important part of the American tradition, and we will preserve Americans’ continued Second Amendment right to own and use firearms.

We believe that the right to own firearms is subject to reasonable regulation, but we know that what works in Chicago may not work in Cheyenne.

We can work together to enact and enforce common-sense laws and mprovements, like closing the gun show loophole, improving our background check system and reinstating the assault weapons ban, so that guns do not fall into the hands of terrorists or criminals.

Acting responsibly and with respect for differing views on this issue, we can both protect the constitutional right to bear arms and keep our communities and our children safe.

Basically states: We, the socialist party of Amerika, heard the decision of the Supreme Court but have a plan to delete the Second Amendment anyway. We believe no one outside our direct control should own any type of firearm. We reserve the right as political policemen (read SS Gestapo) to raid your homes and take by force what you will not surrender willfully.

It always amazes me that with an anti-gun platform the Dems have,There are people who post here on a gun board of all places constant support for Obama,Pelosi and others of that ilk.
Kind of like some dumbass posting support for the Anti-Christ on a religous forum.

You are correct. The "gimmies" (gimmie food, gimmie a home, gimmie a ride, gimmie dis, gimmie dat) will do what the government says - as long as the government doesn't stop with the hand outs.

The rest of us that can do it without government help will need more than the promise of a government hand out before we give up our freedoms. We don't need the government's help - in fact, many of us see the gov't. as part of the problem rather than part of a solution. We are perfectly capable of getting it done on our own - as long as the gov't gets its fat, bloated ass out of our way.

So let me correct the statement --- what works in Chicago will not work in Cheyenne.

Yeah right, deprive people of their rights to defend themselves, require licenses for a civil right of firearms possession. These policies/laws only allow the criminal to have a gun, and then the dumb$hit anti's act surprised when the crime rate goes up.

Guy's I suggest you keep buying mags and ammo.

You forgot the part where the police then gets more and more militarized, and cameras, bullet-detecting microphones, and probably coming soon, drones patrolling.

Create the problem, then tax the citizens for the "solution" i.e. more government power. A plan so simple, it's almost elegant.
