Virgin FAL
DSA just finished and delivered this SA58C to the Dealer for me. I wont be home for a couple of weeks to have it sent to my local Gun shop. I plan on using a 7.62 ACOG or Aimpoint for my primary sights. I wanted get some input on which Irons to use, mainly for the front. I have an assortment of rear Flip Up irons (KAC, ARMS, Troy) but need advice for what to use on the front.
This Rifle will mainly be used to engage Targets in the 0 to 250 Meter Zone. Any input on other acessories would also be apreciated. So far I have a SF Scout light, Harris Bipod w/QD Latch, Tango Down Rail Covers, TD Vertical QD Grip and a MAGPUL FAL Stock. I still have to buy the stock thou. Thanks in Advance. SPECS:SA58C 1. Picatinny lower 2. 18" bbl 3. Speed Trigger 4. Type 1 Receiver no carry cut. 5. Picatinny Gas Block

Read the post. DSA delivered it to the Dealer. I cant have it delivered to me until I get home in two weeks. It would be safe to say I didn't take the picture or have the ability to put a Mag in it. Thanks for the help...........

Nice Rifle!
You also have to remember that some of these guys are trying keep their rifles "authentic" to some particular country's issue. As "authentic" as you can be with a aftermarket receiver and 922R compliance anyway...

Hey Guys lighten up......each to their own and all that. I am a traditionalist no doubt but I like to see some new life in the old girl....!!!!
Nice looking rifle mate, most here are not real fond of the X series stock (well DSAs take on the Aussie idea ) but it sure does beat the hell out of the SAW Style offered by others.Best you report back in on her when you have sent some lead down range...!!! Andy

I have several other standard Stocks lying around. But I didn't have an X-Series Stock. Being that Stocks can be easily removed. I ordered it with a Stock I didn't own. I tried one before and liked it. But it was a completely different set up. I hope it works out, no big deal if it doesn't. As far as launching lead down Range. My main question was about what Iron sights to use. In the U.S we generally attach these to our Guns before launching lead down Range, Mate

The reason why DSA makes those "interesting" handguards with Picatinnys on all four sides is so you can mount a set of iron sights on the right side and tilt the rifle over like they do in Da Hood while still being able to maintain some accuracy, short sight picture notwithstanding.
'Struth, eh????

Sorry, the Birdman system is only offered for the right-handed shooter...
...but maybe now you see the true brilliance in the DSA product.

Don't let them get to you. I like it, and I'm a traditionalist...
Did you you get the DSA mount cut for the ACOG base? What are the lowest rail mounted, flip up, iron sights?

you need a minimum of 13 linear feet of Picatinny rail on that gun.

The most dangerous man to any government is the man who is able to think things out for himself, without regard to the prevailing superstitions and taboos. You may find, that Radio, can be real easy to get along with.
Or, he can be, one mean sumbitch. It's up to you. Now, what we have here, is a failure, to commun'cate. He asked for it, and he got it. Now he has to spend the night in the box. If you will live by the rules, you may find your time here to be over soon enough, and you can return home without the difficulties some men aquire while they are here. It's up to you, you can make it easy, or you can make it hard. It's up to you. Now get that silly lookin' thing outta my sight, and give that man 2 nights in the box, and another night for planning out that 25 meter zero. |

I don't use BUIS as back ups. A common misunderstanding because of the name, back up. When using an Aim Point I use the Irons for further engagements. For me it was anything past 150 Meters, personal pref and situation dependent. This worked great with an AR. Using a 308 w/ACOG it will probably be the other way around, make sense? A lot of talk already on this subject. But if my optics go down at close Range (10-15 Meters) I am going to point shoot anyway, usually already am. I do use throw lever mounts. You aren't going to take the time to flip up an iron sight any more then the time to remove optics at this Range. Point shoot. I would think if my Optics go down when engaging farther targets (ACOG, 308) Or break in this case. I would treat it like going dry or any other long Range malfunction. Take cover, detach it, fix it and drive on. But I never used BUIS this way before. If a Scope on a Sniper weapon went down. We stopped engaging. Not worth giving our position away taking pot shots. I only seen a scope break one time. Last edited by kgoerz; October 19, 2007 at 00:20. |

When you read.....lets say this persons last 25 post. When 90% of his post combined amount to the intelligence of a House Plant. When the other 10% are about as helpful and original as regurgitating warning labels on Tobacco products. You know whats Funny. When you read the word Contributing Member under this persons name, WTF Over. Worst of all. It wasn't funny! Not even close. It doesn't rate. Only positive thing was me having to post the same question on another Forum. Where I did read something that made me laugh. Also read something that helped. |
