I finally got to visit with "Gunga Din" & we replaced the barrel on my FrankenFal.
Thank you for you time, trouble & excellent skills. As this was a new experience for me I was impressed with the knowledge, speed & good old fashioned engineering Know-How. The timing & headspacing are now no longer an unknown quantity. once again A big thank you. p.s. the stubborn gas plug now fits smoothly. Don't ask me what I did, as I don't know exactly! I was fiddling with it after I got home, looking fo a burr, or something similar & it just "popped" & went right in. It now goes on & off with no problem at all. I'm assuming there was a small piece of something down inside the recesses & I just freed it up while tinkering.

A quick check with my friends who are still current on these things informs me I may have under-valued. I'll keep checking & get back to you with a more accurate #. I'm also looking into the tape & will get you a roll off as soon as it arrives here.
Again thanks for everything. |
