Barrel Life...
A few days ago someone asked about barrel life. I was just looking at my Lithgow Repair Manual and they give it at...
...L1A1---12000 to 15000 rounds. ...L2A1---20000 to 25000 rounds. Bust out them cases!!!

Those numbers sound right.
Bottom line is the barrel is the toughest part on the rifle. I would expect numerous major part failures before the barrel became unserviceable.
