I believe Dans has the 1" (25mm etc) flares, if that looks right.

Doubtfull that it's HK. HK didn't come into existance until post-WWII (1950).

I once had a WW@ German signal gun with all the proofs that was made by Walther. It even had the Walther banner on it IIRC.

just found a pic on the marstar website of what i believe is the same thing, the pistol does have a small eagle proof and a 42 or 43 date on it, it could be a neat item, marstar lists one for 630 bucks, guess i better try to talk him out of shooting it, thanks for the help

Aw heck... what funzit to have a nonshooter around? Assuming it's been used a bit, a few more rounds through it shouldn't matter as long as he takes reasonable care of it. I'd assume the flares are corrosive, but a little soap and water cleanup before regular cleaning will take care of that. Thing was made to shoot!

Shoot it. Clean it. Flares use black powder. Use care not to start a fire, like I did in the woods across the cove. I now shoot out on the lake. Watch the wind, the flare gets lighter as it comes down and will blow. I have 3- 26.5mm and 2- 37mm.
