What good is a gun when F.E.M.A. rounds everyone up and confiscates th

I wonder what good it does in a scenario like New Orleans to be armed, when the military troops and police are ordered to confiscate every ones guns? Were not talking about a static situation where your defending your castle. When you're on the move and trying to evacuate, is exactly the time when a gun is needed the most. This is my biggest fear in any situation like this. I wouldn't want to be disarmed by the authorities on their promise to keep me safe. The people who walked or drove out of the city tell horror stories of being shot at by roving gangs. What would you do to retain your weapons without having to fight the police and the national guard? Could you imagine trying to avoid the bad guys and those sent to help? Any thoughts?
