Finding brass flakes in upper.....

After firing my STG58, I took it apart for cleaning. I noticed that there were small brass flakes and even slivers in the upper. I assume the flakes are from the brass cartridge casings.

What could be wrong with my rifle??? Is my headspacing off? Is there something wrong with my extractor or ejector? None of the casing had any type of abnormal dents or bulges. I bought this rifle used from someone that had it assembled by a gunsmith, so I hope the headspacing is OK. Any help would be appreciated.
