ID: Lower Types ?
The greenish one is an IMBEL and the black parked one a G1 Lower. Are they type 1, type 2, or type 3? Also, when did they change the unlocking lever from a vertical position to horizontal and why does it look like there are two small rivets on the underside of the IMBEL behind the postol grip?
Also, Mods, this might be a descent set of reference photos to post here. If someone wants me to send the origionals to host they are much larger and easier to see. ![]()

To answer your question, the G1 pictured appears to be a TYPE 1. The Imbel is a TYPE 3. Examine the pictures Rooster posted on page 3 of the link EMD mentioned.
I do not know the date FN changed the locking latch design from vertical to horizontal off the top of my head but, I DO know that the design change was prompted by a nasty tendency for the vertical latch to trip when firing rifle grenades! Blake Steven's book has the specifics.

Does anyone know why there are rivets present on the lower underside on Type 3 but not on Type 1?
