Fire question

I was shooting a 3 gun match last week with my STG and had so much smoke from the front handgurds that I had to do the " Gopher". Stick your head up, look around for a target, then back down to use the sights.
Had the thought that I might just start this thing on fire yet, hadguards were real toasty, REAL GLAD I swapped out the metal ones, and about 3 or 5 minutes after I was done I checked the barrel and water would still sizzle on it even with the action open and a bit of a breeze.
After that stage the oil and grease burned out there wasn't the smoke problem anymore

Rifle ran great, no stoppages of any kind, and double taps as good my AR could do.
