There are people here who make their own receiver wrenches and then have at the barrel with an open end wrench. The minimalist approach.
Personal preference includes a receiver wrench, barrel vise, Wadman's barrel shoulder tool, pin gauges and one of the new barrel timing tools from Pa. Patriot. Depends on how many you plan to build and how much hassle you can deal with. There are a lot of us around with the tools. Somebody may be close enough to you to give you a hand. |

You don't need all the tools listed in this link, but it has a list plus explanations.

Sorry, I forgot the go- & no-go gauges as listed by everybody else. BUT, you should also have a set of pin-punches, gunsmithing screwdrivers(Craftsman $1.99 screwdriver = buggered screws), FAL buttstock tool, extractor tool and a gas nut wrench. The Austrian stg tool available from several vendors will remove/tighten bipod castle nuts as well as remove gas nuts.
You can do it on the cheap, but it is more difficult to have a good looking, proper functioning rifle when you are done. But, it can be done. Or, so we are told. |
