anyone know what the deal is with .375 chey tac does it run circles around .338 Lapua ? is this the next primary long range caliber or is 338 going to be around a bit longer ! any one in the long range loop (looking at buying a AW 338 but not if its days are limited

I don't and haven't ever owned CheyTac chamberings. What follows is my running across info on it the past several years. It should simply be used as a point of reference.

.408 CT was the original, and it spawned the .375 CT. When compared to the 408... the 375 is a superior choice for the extreme end of their (long) ranges. The 408 is no slouch and packs a ton of energy, but the 375 is the ballistic upgrade.

Only you can decide on the 338 and 375. The energy differences are astounding, but it should be more a question of intended use, cost per shot, component availability, weight, size, etc.

.338 is never going away.

.375 Chey Tac is way more (efficient, fast, expensive, hard to find, etc.).

I've yet been compelled to veer from the 25X137 mm for long range sub caliber.

It's the difference between tapping the target and putting a hole in it.
