Need some help deciding next AK

Well its been a while I am 2 months into my deployment in trashghanistan, and I am trying to decide what company to go with when I go shopping for a under folder. I am not new to the ak pattern rifle. I own a wasr 10, and after thousands of rounds down the pipe I have had only one hick up and that is when I ran brass through it. Long story short I want an underfolder, but I don't know if I can put my trust into centuryarms.. The prices are decent, but their customer service lacks in people skills and the reviews from avid shooters say stay away. I love my wasr it works great. I want something I can depend on if need be. I like Atlantic firearms under folders they sell, but they are currently sold out. Any tips will be appreciated.

How much money will you have to spend? If you can go close to or at $1K I'd get a Norinco underfolder. They are built like Cadillacs and have thicker recievers for extra strength.

I know the equally expensive Hungarian underfolders imported around the same time are top notch as well.

Most of the newer AK's I fool around with now are the fixed stock type. I do know Century Polish underfolders were popular, just not sure how reliable. And I guess there were several generations of Century Yugo underfolders but I do not know the nuances of those. My Century NON underfolder Yugo is pretty well built for what it sold for originally and I've put a couple hundred rounds through it recently without a hitch.

Any of the Chinese rifles are excellent. Arsenal built AK's are one of the best you can get. The best bet for the lowest money,( if you want a fixed stock or a side folder) is the Saiga AK's. Made in the same factory as the Russian military rifles.
Last I knew, they were going for around $700 +.
With AK's, I believe you get what you pay for. I've had many over the last 20 yrs. Some are factory built, some from kits but none were cheaply made or assembled and I've never had a problem with any of them.

The AMD-65 is built with a FEG receiver and original chrome lined barrel and is a matching #'s parts kit.

Yes i know it's a side folder but for the money, around $500.00 it's hard to beat. I have 3 and think their under priced.

I heard these are being used by the US to train the Afgan police.

I also have a CAI AKMS its OK doesn't have the chrome lined barrel and is non matching #'s paid $600.00 OTD
and would have bought an AMD if i knew then about the.

I have a Century Rommy underfolder and I haven't had any issues with it so far. You can go the route others mentioned, or buy a Polish kit, a Nodak Spud receiver, and have someone build it for you.

While you're still in trashghanistan, snag a real thing.

Just make sure you have a replacement barrel for it and some goo gone to take off the flower stickers they pasted all over it!

If you want one asap and fully assembled buy yourself an Arsenal SGL 21.
If you don't mind waiting buy all NOS parts and a NoDak receiver and have one of the excellent smiths here at the Files assemble it for you.

Yeah right bringing one home would land me in jail at home. Getting one as a war trophy is damn near impossible these days. Back maybe in 06 i could have. Oh well I was looking at the Kirinknov kits they look appealing, but I think I would break my 800 dollar budget.

The Yugo underfolders are really solid rifles, quite a few still available.
