Hoffa declares war on Tea Party

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-.../2773942/posts

"Today at a labor rally in Detroit, Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa Jr. declared war on the Tea Party and rallied the crowd to “take the son’s of b#$%$$ out.” He implored the President to use his vast resources and that the unions were Mr. Obama’s “army” and that they were “ready to march”.

They pull that crap on an armed tea party member and it won't turn out well
for them since the Dickocracks are unarmed. So now we have white americans
calling for civil war against white americans, here we go.

Don't be so sure. They are hypocritical in ALL ways. Just because they don't want YOU to have guns, doesn't mean that they don't.

Absolutely correct. I saw at least one bodyguard (goon) on the stage with Hoffa. I'm sure there were a couple of more thugs* off camera.

*With apologies to the New Mexico variety.

The Administration and the unions are scared.
Both are attempting to energize their base to provoke the Tea Party and Republicians to cave in to Obama's upcoming jobs plan. Obama is also is a tough spot as support paybacks to the unions have not been forthcoming after the first infamous stimulus package. Now the Republician majority House has the control of the purse strings and Obama & Company are pleading their case in the MSM.

Obama and the unions may get some of their wishlist but time will tell on what concessions they make to the Republicians. The Republicians may allow them to get their collective beaks wet but with the elections 14 months away, making Obama any type of champion in certainly not in the cards.

Using the unions as a convenient wipping boy misses the point. Union membership is now down in the 11% range of workers and most of those are in the public service sector. Our problems arise when voters want an endless stream of stuff from the government that they don't have to pay for and politician who will dole out anything to them to ensure re-elected. If unions disapeared tomorrow, the country would still be in the dumper. We are throughly screwed.

Hoffa has the same problem as the Congressional Black Caucus - if they are actually calling for some kind of violence - veiled or otherwise - they need to check their math... they be a tad out numbered - should have been clear where the unions stand after what happened in Wisconsin - the taxpayers are DONE - no more skittles for you a hole! you want to stomp your feet and threaten violence - bring it:-)

No they're not. I talk to people all the time (just not for very long, and hardly ever on this forum) that haven't figured it out yet.

Hoffa is a liar a cheat and a thief.

He is also running for re-election as President of the IBT.

I am a teamster, and have been for the last 15 years. I have also held elected positions within our local (including Chairman of our Executive Council) for 11 of those 15 years. I recently attended the IBT convention in Las Vegas as a delegate. Heck, I even had my picture taken with Hoffa in his office (don't ask...) when our new Local that I founded (my name is on the charter) was approved. It's Local 357 (yes I picked the number and 308/762 were unavailable....).

All that being said, I have a little insight to what's going on with the unions right now. It's simple.

Greed

Hoffa is paid by the International. The international takes roughly 22% of all union dues collected from the membership. The more members, the more the International makes. To a lesser extent, the more the membership makes (dues are a percentage of income) the
more the International makes. The more the International makes, the more Hoffa makes.

Hoffa takes in almost 400k/yr all the while denigrating, as he calls them, "the wall street fat cats". Irony? I think not.

Hoffa needs members to pay his salary, and right now he needs their votes. He's a scumbag who will say anything he needs to say to perpetuate his wealth.

Irony is when the cleaners who work his offices tried to unionize and he busted their attempt....

Pete

Have a friend who WAS a Teamster truck driver, till the teamsters ordered him and his fellow drivers to strike.

The result? company went bankrupt and they all lost their jobs.

Yah, its all about supporting the 'workers'

I spent a number of years in the carpenters union, NOT ONCE did I vote the way they wanted me to. Most of the guys I knew didn't either. The union boss's made all their speech's and we did what we believed was right anyway.

I once shortly worked in a food processing plant in the warehouse and our union membership voted on a .75 cents increase or to strike.
Our union officials came back and said we would get a .15 cents increase because the ownership refused to budge.

Would it be needless to say the union president was driving a new car a few weeks later?

Not the wipping boy but the poster child of the Obama Administration.
The rank and file unionist have only one single objective and that is to protect their income and to maintain their quality of life no matter if it contributed to the demise of our economic system.
The decline of their ranks is noteworthy and cause for concern for the possible loss of future collective bargaining. But with the oursourcing of American manufacturing the across the board union payscale & benefits are out of sync with the average worker and if the unions continue to push the envelope US manufacturing will be an event of the past.
