DSA FAL IDentification

Hello all,

First off, I am new to the forum so would like to say hello.

A month or so back I started looking for 308. Rifle, after a fair amount of time researching, I decided on the DSA 58 as the platform I would like to buy.

So I found a site on the internet that auctions guns, and I thought maybe that was a good way to find a good deal. Which I need as my wife is not yet fully tracking with the whole I need this rifle idea.

What I am finding is that the prices closely match MSRP, and when they are low it is because the piece is misrepresented i.e. SA58 for what looks to be a STG58.

My question is, what is the best way to ID the DSA Imbel, STG and SA rifles from the poor quality photos often offered.

And since most of the ones that I have looked at require me to compromise on what I was looking for, do you think that I would be better off dealing with the OEM directly?

I apoligize for any nomenclature mistakes I may have made and thank you in advance for your thoughts.

I don't know what style FAL you are wanting, If it was me I would buy a DSA Imbel rifle for $999 and order a DSA para kit for $400 more and be able to have a fixed stock at times and a para at times.

BUT, more than likely the para kit would turn into another complete rifle down the road.

Personally I would decide exactly what you want in your rifle. Scan the Market Place here or even place a want to buy ad.
1) You may find the rifle you want.
2) You may find the parts to have the exact rifle you are dreaming of and have one of the very competent builders here work magic with your new masterpiece! (This route you may actually save a few coins in the long run.)

Welcome to the DARN BEST FAL forum!!

Good luck and lets us know if you need any help!

You are among some SUPER GUYS here and trust me.......THEY KNOW THEIR FAL's!!

Thanks

Thanks for the welcomes and the ideas.

I ended up going with a SA58 Tactical w 16" barrel.

It should be mailing out tomorrow, can't wait.

I appreciate all of the information you offer here and hope to have some contributions in the near future.

Thanks Again
