How do you use a post reticle scope?
I just traded on an Marlin 36 30-30 with a Weaver K-3 scope that has a post reticle. I have never used this before and am not quite sure how to sight it. My question is this. The target/point of aim goes on top of the post and disregard the horizontal line or line up the horizontal line with the post which may mean the cross section is below the top of the post. Right now the horizontal line is below the top of the post. Any help is appreciated.

The tip of the post is the aiming point, regardless of the horizontal ones.
They are just used as a frame of reference to keep the scope & rifle from being canted. I don't think they will mone relative to the post top when sighting in. In that way it's just like any other reticule, the whole thing moves together. |

What he said... keep it level.
The other one? The one that looks upside down? Works the same way. Where you're aiming to hit is on top of the point. GW |

I stand corrected so now I need to go back to the range and sight it in the right way. Thanks for helping a fellow member out.

Maybe not if you're zeroed at the post/level with the horizontal lines.
You know the difference in MOA between the current zero & the tip of the post? You know how many clicks that is? Clickety, clickety.
