Will a bipod fit on a non-bipod cut barrel (Imbel)
Odd question i know. Im a rook, cut me some slack.
Im looking to build one of my Imbel kits into an stg58 clone. I ordered the furniture today and also picked up one of the bipod gunthings has for $36 before i realized that the barrel in my kit is non-bipod cut. Could I remove the sling swivel loop on the barrel (no sling usage isnt a big deal to me) and use that "channel" for the bipod? If not is there some alternative method i could use to properly attach the bipod to the barrel for use with the STG58 furniture? Thanks in advance

I like the looks of the stg bipod, too, and have given some thought to this.
I think that the swivel cut is too close to the handgaurd to work. It appears that a ring could be soldered to the barrel for the bipod cut. It may or may not mean lengthening the bipod legs.

It will work fine, but you won't have a notch for the Bipod Key(it will swivel more than usual).
Did it my self for a while. big problem with the FAL bipod, is that it changes your point of impact dramatically as compared to being supported my the forearm, like up 12 MOA or so. |
