Yugo M70 ?
I've got a friend that has what I assume is a Yugo M70B1 parts kit. It has the fixed stock and a machined receiver. (receiver is torched of course). Is there a receiver out there that is stamped that can be used to make this kit go bang?

Seems nodakspud NDS-5 is for the fixed stock yugo (m70b1). But there site makes no mention it is for replacement of a machined receiver. Do all fixed stock yugos have a machined receiver? I know my yugo SKS is machined as well as my yugo 8mm. Very nice work I might add too!

You need a machined receiver for that kit. A U.S. milled receiver will run you about $350-400. Thats why most people go with the stamped receiver AK kits as the receivers are much less expencive. The stamped receivers have a trunion that the barrel is pressed into. Theres one in the rear also for the stock.

I'm told (Nodak Spud) that all you need is the trunnions to build a type 3 on a stamped receiver. May vary from country of origin as regards the barrel journal diameter but I'm told it can be done.

I am building a Yugo RPK from a milled reciever, sililar problems to what you are facing.
First, is the barrel pinned into the remains of the receiver, or is it screwed in? If it is a screw in, a new milled reciever is probably the way to go. There is another way though, referenced later in this reply. If the barrel is pinned, you can use a stamped reciever, but yo will have to buy a Yugo front trunnion. Last I know, these were available from Centerfire Systems. Rear trunnions are not to be found. What others have done is to take the rear part of the demilled reciever, and trim it down to fit in the stamped reciever. A lot of work. Another thing possible, a poster over on Gunco.net has come up with weld on sideplates to repair the milled kits. Go there and check it out. |

Pin is pressed in. I removed it for him. Interesting idea with the just replace the trunion with one that came from a stamped receiver parts kit. I have a Yugo UF myself and its front trunion would match up fine to his site block, etc. Barrel should be the same diameter as well.

Search "The Firing Line" for milled rec's. They have the best prices I've found.

you can also trim the the front portion of your milled reciever down, drill, tap, fit it inside a regular akm flat.
