Seeking a 22 cal conversion for my AR15A2

Anyone have one?

First of all, forget the Colt or Ceiner kits by themselves. The twist on an AR barrel isn't correct for a .22LR bullet. The way to go, abeit more expensive, is to build, or buy complete, a dedicated .22LR upper.

One of the first was by Accuracy Speaks. His barrel is a standard profile. http://accuracyspeaks.com/public_html/index.html

Derrick Martin builds beautiful stuff. His book on AR-15 accuracy is a must read.

The other kit that I can recommend without question is by Rick Kuehl. I have 4 of his kits. These things are fantastic. I ordered them because I liked the M-4 profile. Actually I ordered the barrels and conversion kits and assembled them myself.

About the M-4 profile, it seems the barrels on these kits sit back in the upper almost 2" so the overall length of the gun is 3/8" longer than an M-4 with what is very close to an M-4 length barrel without the stamp. http://www.kuehlprecisionfirearms.com

You will have to wait for a barrel from Rick as he does them in batches.

Rick uses converted Ceiner kits. Derick uses customer supplied kits.

I have fired both of these uppers on ARs and M-16s. They are without equal. They will cost about the same as a very good .22LR bolt gun but you will have a very good .22LR AR.

If you have an upper you can order a barrel and go for it.

I purchased a Ceiner years ago. It is a blast. I eventually accumulated a good stash of the 30-round magazines. So what it it isn't the perfect .22LR? That doesn't mean that they aren't fun to shoot. They can be ammo sensitive, however. There are also some folks who have posted how to "blueprint" the Ceiner to make them work better.

Check out this young man shooting my "truck" AR with the Ceiner. This was at a boy scout campout a few years ago.

I have both the Colt conversion kit and two Cieners. They are all somewhat ammo sensitive but for the most part work great and are fun to shoot. The problem I was having was hitting anything with them installed. With the dedicated uppers dimes and soda lids are not safe around here.

Only accurate guns are interesting.

Side note for you SIG owners. I talked with Ciener at the Shot Show and he said he was working on a SIG conversion but was VERY vague about time frame.

Problem is, I just don't shoot it enough to justify what I spent on it.
Oh well.

At this point, I'd just buy a dedicated .22, and use it for what .22's have always been most used. Plinking.

I'm still pissed-off at Ruger for their fudd-factor. But, its hard to argue with the 10/22 and the Tactical Innovations 25-round mags.

I will also say, I had one of Colt brand AR15 .22 conversion kits. Accuracy was mediocre.
I don't know about the Ceiner.

Reliable magazines are a bit spendy however you slice it.
