Threading metric barrel for flash suppressor ...

I know that the thread is 9/16 - 24 (left hand), which I assume to be 24 threads per 9/16ths inch of barrel. Is this true? Second, what should the starting diameter of the barrel be prior to threading?

Many thanks!

Scott

9/16 is the diameter and 24 is the number of threads per inch.

The normal barrel diameter is 0.590" . The area to be threaded should be turned down to 0.570" X 5/8" long. It's possible to thread it without turning it down but you put unnecessary strain on the die.
