Indian Gas Block

Can I use the Indian Gas Block with is an L1A1 style on a metric barrel and receiver? Is there a difference in the height from the barrel to the gas tube?

Thanks

I've got an Indian gas block on my FrankenFal carbine, no problems with the gas tube. The front sight is different than either a metric or inch and you'll have to use a taller rear sight.

James, the gunpartsguy, hooked me up on the parts I needed.

Why?
You will possibly need a taller rear sight.
You will need a Indian front sight system, gas regulator.
A Inch gas plug, gas tube, gas reg adjustment & keeper spring and possibly a gas tube.

If your already using the metric system, just try to find a metric gas block for your metric barrel. If your using the Inch system and you want to convert the metric barrel to inch, you are better off buying a Brit or Aussie gas block as parts for them are more common.

I know that Indian blocks are cheap, but there's a reason for it.

It's simple. I already have 5. Two of my builds won't use gas. The other one will have custom made barrel. They came with front sight post. I have the plugs and regs. The other stuff doesn't matter from what I've been told. Why wouldn't I want to use them? It's not like I can make an original Brit or Aussie.

The only part of my carbine that's Indian is the gas block and sights. The gas tube, regulator adjustment and spring, and gas plug and piston all came off a STG58 and the rifle works just fine.
James said they sometimes won't work with the metric plugs, but sometimes they will. I quess I just got lucky.

Indian barrels are smaller diameter at the gas block. They are not interchangeable with inch or metric.
