Q about my Star Mod B from Dan`s...
I can`t post pics, but if someone will "host" it for me I`ll send it to them.......
I was looking at the mags...they will hold 9mm Largo rounds, I tried them. No big deal as i think the mags were interchangeable between the B`s and Supers. Here`s what gets me. Unless I overlooked something in the pics that have been posted, the ejection ports are all "even", kinda 1911 like. Mine has a milled cutout on the front of the lower half extending the port about 1/8". I chambered a Largo round(no, it wouldn`t fully chamber in the 9mm, but it almost seated, at least enough for the extractor to grab it) and racked the slide. The clearance cut allowed the unfired Largo round to eject without being caught in the port. Question......based on this, and disregarding the legalities of "customizing" a C&R gun, would the frame and bbl be capable of handling the conversion to Largo, or better yet, .38 Super? I know the differences in the case head of the Super vs the Largo might require some breechface/extractor work.

Why not just buy a model A? I believe the Largo versions don't sell as well, so they come cheaper.

chamber pressure in the 38 super is a bit higher than in 9X19. should be OK, and yes, modding it will make subsequent sale to a CR purchaser illegal, in the strictest sense.

Also, you’re probably sane and will live significantly longer than I will. Nonetheless you disgust me, and I take comfort in the knowledge that your obituary will be nowhere near as humorous as mine. The next time I hear "THE RANGE IS NOW HOT", it just wont be the same. Max tried another question. "What sort of people live about here?" "In THAT direction," the Jin said, waving its right paw round, "lives a Han: And in THAT direction," waving the other paw, "lives a Ming Hare. Visit either you like: they're both mad." "But I don't want to go among mad people," Max remarked. "Oh, you can't help that," said the Jin: "we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad." "How do you know I'm mad?" said Max. "You must be," said the Jin, "or you wouldn't have come here." |

The Mod A`s I have seen, in similar condition to the B I have, have all been in the $300 range. There are some "shooters" I`ve found in the $150-175 range, but the bbls are dirt roads. I was thinking of buying another one of these from Dan and converting it to .38 Super.

Doesn't Sarco still have the Model A's (9mm Largo) for around $129. I seem to remember they had them in Shotgun News lately.
