Look at the side of the upper receiver. Either on the side rail or lower by the mag. It should have info on maker.
If the rifle is new it's prob a CAI receiver with a US barrel and US brake, US butt, PG and HGs. |

How can you tell if its a US barrel and US brake, US butt, PG and HGs? Receiver says its imported by CAI St. Alb. Vt. Brake has 2 holes on 4 sides. Just got the gun a couple days ago, and know "NOTHING" about these guns? Just registered so brand new to these guns. Receiver also says R1A1 Sporter on the side, then next line says Receiver made by IMBEL -------- BRAZIL. Doesn't have the one piece stock as shown in my manual. Has a separate pistol grip from the stock. Also, how do you adjust the rear sight? Has only a knob, and has a ramp with side slots sort of but knob doesn' t turn or ? Where did you say it says metric? Only have one mag, but don't know where or how much to expect for extra mags? Seems in great shape, so what is a ball park worth of this gun? Appreciate any help!

HHI812, you got one of the good ones, a Century build on an Imbel receiver, Imbel is made under lisence from FN, they are also easy to get up and running right if their are any problems.
It sounds as if you have an inch pattern rifle, there are a few things to look for. Are the front sight ears, the sight guards, open, or closed, check out thew magazine, doe sit have a big rectangle lug on the front, or a bvird beak punched, look inside the mag well, does it have a half moon shaped cut out(metric), or a rectangle cut(inch)? Folding charging handle, or fixed. Check out the serial number on the lower, post it here, and someone would be able to tell you if it's British, Aussie, etc. As far as the butt, handguard and pistol grip goes, does the buttstock have a sling swivle mounted, what do the handguards look like, mine originally had metric style handguards, flat, slab sided, not round, is the pistol grip smooth or have a pebble grain texture to them? (metric and inch handguards are interchangeable, the buttstocks and pistol grips are not)

Receiver says its imported by CAI St. Alb. Vt. Receiver made by IMBEL -------- BRAZIL ------Imbel receiver imported by CAI
Since it is a Imbel rec., looks to be an older rifle, most likely a OEM Fal barrel. Brake has 2 holes on 4 sides-----sounds like a CAI brake Also, how do you adjust the rear sight?--- squeeze pin and push forward for more elevation. 1 small screw on ea side of base to adjust windage. Loosen one side then Tighten the other. Where did you say it says metric?---look at mag catch at front of rec. If it is a wide slot its Inch, metric have small tabs on front of mag. Might be good to post a couple pics of this rifle. Mags can be found for $5.00ea or less. |

Charging handle is folding. Where can you get mags for $5? How can you tell if the brake is screwed on or pinned or welded? Hope you guys can make out the photos? Still can't move the rear sight up the ramp? No pin to squeeze? Thanks guys!
