Gettin G1 flashhider off?
While I was playing with my flashhider I slipped it on and twisted it on...pretty cool, then I realized I did not know how to get it off. Im guessing the flashhider has a negative effect on accuracy and since Im not worried about giving away my position at the shooting range I think I would rather have it off. Im sure there is a simple enough way but I dont want to mangle it trying to do it the wrong way. Thanks for any help

It just twists off, the exact details on how this is done I do not know. I usually just play with it for a minute and it comes off.

On a similar note, I slipped one of those Tapco fake supressors (came as part of group of parts) over a G1 grenade launcher attachment. Slipped on easily, but I have yet to get it off. Not sure what's holding it on, but I think it's permanent now.

I had to pry up on the spring a little to help it get over the lug. A medium sized screw driver worked, small enough to get under the spring but strong enough to lift it.
It helped that I had a spare barrel and FH to study how it goes on. I can't remember which way to turn it.

With the muzzle pointed away from you, turn sharply to the left (counter-clock wise) to remove, to the right (clockwise) to install. Try not to compress the spring with your hand as this makes things more difficult.

If the clippy-thingy on the muzzle-thingy is held in place with a pin,
you have drive out the pin before you can do anything useful with the muzzle-thingy. Once you get the pin out, you still might not be able to do anything with it unless you pry-up the clippy thingy to make it not interfere with the barrel lug. If you are watching "Road Trip" (the scene where Beth takes off her shirt) while you are playing with the muzzle-thingy you might earn WECSOG points when you absentmindedly snap the clippy-thingy on the fleshy part of your finger. Good thing I didn't have it in my lap.

The pin is fairly conspicuous and if it were there, you'd know it. The loop extends outwards and wraps around the FH edge.
Here are the instructions in German, I don't have it translated, and would probably botch it if I tried. From what I gather, and through trial and error, it is removed using "firm" thumb pressure in the middle of the spring clip. When you push down "firmly" ,it raises the edge enough to aid in the removal. Simultaneously pressing down, give it a twist in the off direction. ![]()

Cool, I thought I'd "discovered" the trick of pushing in on the clip by accident. Yet, there it is in the German manual. Those bloody Bosche think of everything!

Ahh-ha! I got it off last night. Huge thanks, Im sure it would have been on there a LONG time without the pics and tips. It was the "squeez the middle of the clip" part that really gave me the success.
Thanks again |
