If not a freak about rechargable batteries and keeping them rotated and sharp then suggest pop the $10 to buy a four pack of lithium AA's. They will store a decade and not corrode and likely still be charged if not used a lot they are also about half the weight of alkalines if matters. More batteries the lantern holds longer it will run.
