My first motorcycle came from Montgomery-Wards. It was a 50cc bike made by Benelli. Man, I looked at that thing for months in the Wards catalog. I was twelve years old. It actually looked like a motorcycle, unlike the "step-through" bikes some of my classmates had. One late afternoon in the fall of 1965, after dark really, a Wards bobtail truck backed up our dirt driveway and unloaded that "Riverside SS-450". I remembered having to be made to come in from the garage that night. That little motorcycle went to Australia with us the next spring. This is me on it, in our backyard in Geelong, Victoria. Check those bad-ass mocs!
