PTR announces new MP5

PTR just announced they are going to offer a MP5, priced at $1800.

Herr Walther January 23, 2018 11:21

At that price the Swiss will be getting my money instead.

Why is it they can sell an HK91 clone for under a grand, but they charge almost twice that for an MP5 clone?

Blackwing January 23, 2018 11:46

MSRP $1899...... :-l Swing and a miss.......Their competitors are already under them.

aussiedave January 23, 2018 12:03

i want them to start US production of their STG/MP44 clone. MP5 clone without the fun switch is no fun at all.

Herr Walther January 23, 2018 12:12

Never mix business and pleasure. :D

At that price and no 10mm, I agree: Gimme the StG clone.

pre1989 January 23, 2018 15:17

Esp seeing as PSA is making a MP5 clone

Reallying imop they should have done a HK33/93 clone ..Lot less people making them ..And imop decent market for them ..Esp if they offered I dont know a AR-15 mag well option ( yeah it know the price of mags can be a turn off to some )

1.8k for this nope

Omega and others are buldings ones nice or nicer then this for less money and offer K models etc

I do like the non 922r issues and full auto bolt for it

But I am not paying close to 2k for a PTR gun ...I will give Omega etc the money first

Thank you for saying that. No happy button, no happy. Now an STG in a readily available caliber would be the shit.

AGG January 23, 2018 21:29

PTR, PSA, POF, MKE --- I will stay with HK!!! :)

$1800 for a 9mm? :whistling:

Herr Walther January 23, 2018 22:45

Companies have other models higher than that, but they are not clones of some other model.

crabcatcher February 03, 2018 20:58

Way over priced, PSA will own the market come 2019 if they come in under 1000 like everyone is saying. Shame because as another posted said here, if they can turn out reliable top quality g3 clones for under 1000, the mp5 shouldn't be that much more. Guess they have to pay for the R&D but that carry case, aluminum hand guard, bungie sling and welded top rail (only 2-3 inches long) all could have been omitted to bring the price down a couple hundred at least.

Especially when the mp5 is really nothing but a scaled down hk91.

Klaus Von Richter February 05, 2018 11:35

For the people comparing PTR and PSA price points remember you get what you pay for.

Don't forget the company got started by buying the Portugal HK factory on the surplus market, so they got all the molds, & machinery cheap. To make the MP5, they need to start over, making new molds for everything, R&D, etc. GARY

Yeah, but how much R&D is required on something that well-known that has been around for that long?

MUCH more than you would think.

Owner of X-products told me he had $500k into the 308 50rd drum mag by the time he got it to work. Thereís a ton of subtile details that are not apparent.

Bubacus February 06, 2018 21:11

I'll admit they are sexy and I enjoy shooting the HK94 clone I have. But there are more options for a 9mm carbine/ pistol with brace options these days for less and much cheaper to fix/get parts for.

The HK SP5K with an MSRP of $2,699 is like a bad joke where HK gets to take a dump on the civilian market it scorned for years. $1800 still too high for clones. $1299, they will move fairly briskly.

I'm wondering if the PSA model will have a run off on "Blemished" receivers for their HK clone.

harleypower69 February 08, 2018 13:01

I like my SP5K

HK made a great subgun with the MP5K. I got a NIB SP5K in a trade for a Colt 45 I never shot. This roller locked action is really cool engineering. It runs like a top and I like it nearly as much as my Mini Uzi. I like all the clones that are out there as competition breeds improvement and generally lowers prices across the board. Never been an HK fanboy, read lots of negative chit about the company but the SP5K is good stuff (price not so much) and my HK 45Comp Tac is revolver reliable.

W.E.G. February 08, 2018 21:02

$1800 worth of....

Desperately trying to finish that thought.
