This picture is on the BBC.com news page.
I know it's a bit small but the guy in the foreground looks to me like he's holding a FAL para version.
Picture is of Indonesian security forces in Aceh province, thus adding to the Countries with the FAL in current use.

Mike...you will find that is a SS-1 which is the Indon produced FNC. The AUG seen with the dude behind is on issue to some of their "special forces" types.

Mike,
Looks like an FNC to me. Take a look at the mag. Pretty small pic though.

Andy beat me to it.

Out of curiosity, what countries are still using our beloved FAL?

The list is here somewhere mate.....I do so hate to sound like "that" moderator...you know the one that makes tank sounds when he walks...I do digress though....if you do a search I am sure that there is an extensive post on the subject.

Not as many as one would like to see though I am afraid. Most are now in the hands of third world nations abtained as part of military assistance programs.

is that the same caliber that the vz-52 rifle takes? if so maybe the importers should start looking in indonesia for mor of that hard to find ammo.

They are an enterprising lot.....I am somewhat suprised to see them playing around with the x45 round. They are not a big user of AK series rifles up there, although they do have some in service. I would have thought that the x39 round would have made just that much more sense. The 5.56 SS-1 is pretty much the issue weapon there. They have lots of troops and can be seen armed with AUGs, M16A1s and a few other odds and sods.

The 762x45 looks a bit like the M1 carbine round
Indos use a decent number of AK101's common in the hands of Brimod.
They are cheaper than the Pindad product and can be purchased through barter with Russian trading firms.
