Gas tube looseness?

After noticing a crack in the notch on the gas tube of my G1, I ordered a new one from DSA. After screwing it in I had to back it up about a 1/4 turn for the pin to go in to the hole under the gas regulator. This leaves some looseness in the tube. Is this common and does it have any effect on operation?

Completely normal condition.

In fact, if it screws in tight, and bottoms out, there is a much greater chance of malfunction when the rifle heats up.
