Ok guys, I have finally gotten my upper together for the preliminary assembly (prior to re-parking the parts). Headspace is good, timing excellent, etc. When I took a close look at my gas regulator, I did not see any numbers on it. All of the posts I have read relate to a numerical position of the gas regulator, ie, gas setting 4. Are these numbers (settings) related to the number of clicks the regulator is moved? I checked mine and it will move 9 clicks from the gas port completely open to the gas port completely closed. Your assistance please.
Thanks

Imbel regulators and maybe some others don't have numbers.
On a number stamped regulator, the number of clicks or detent on a regulator and the numbers as stamped do not correspond. There is a gap or click in between numbers making it a half click. So, if a reg is numbered 7, there may be 13 or 15 clicks.
Don't worry about numbers, it's not that important. You want the gas port about 1/2 way open or shut depending upon how you look at it. Better to be a little more open when cycling good. This gives you some room to shut down the port, build more pressure for lousy ammo or extreme fouling should it occur.
