I hate you. I really do. I don't need a type 2. I really don't. But I want one.

I was number 3 to order and number 1 to pay.

God I hate you.

Oh thanks Jen. Love you, but hate you. You know what I mean.

Ditto on what Dabullfrog said.

Is there also a limit as to how many of each receiver type is available?

This group buy should be a scheduled event taking place every 6 months to a year. :D It seems like every time it comes up, I'm broke. :(

There is currently no end date scheduled. When there is one it will be announced here.

There is no limit or max number of any specific type of receiver. The only restriction is that each user can only purchase a total of 3 receivers (of any type or combination of types).

October 01, 2003, 16:46
Good. I'm glad their is no receiver type limit, as last time all the type 2's sold out quick. Now hopefully the end date will be a month or so away, to give some of us time to save some money. :D

Receivers ARE shipping! It looks like the folks at DSA are trying to get out as many orders as they can before Knob Creek. If you get your FFL and Payment in asap it looks like there's a good chance of your receiver(s) shipping immediately.

The following order numbers either have shipped or are in the process of being shipped out:

WOW!

I work at a dealer in my off duty time, I know the type III is a good bit below dealer cost from DSA, so this is a great chance to get one cheap. It looks like the others may be a bit cheaper too, I'll have to go look at the books again tomorrow.

Cliffy, the receiver looks GREAT

The group by pricing is below my dealer cost but a good bit.

I would highly advise taking advantage of this ASAP.

Cliffy, I'll be at the shop Tues. thru Saturday next week, but off this Sat. and Monday, so stop on by when you can.

I finally picked mine up yesterday. Holy crap! That thing is nice! I sat down last night and compared it to the Coonan and Imbels I have and the workman ship is beyond compare. The Coonan is a close second, but the finish is a lot better on the DSA. The Imbel looks like crap when you put it next to the DSA.

Picked up my DSA Type II receiver from my FFL today. Looks great! It is a lot better than the Imbel Type III I once had. The Imbel had tool marks on all its exterior surfaces. The DSA has been surface finished and is much better looking, not to mention the quality interior dimentions.

The receiver shipped 11-12 and was received by my FFL 11-17-03. I can't wait until my group buy StG-58 kit arrives from bigant. I have all my compliance parts, but one, plus an A.R.M.S. #3 scope mount. I plan to get an Entrčprise muzzle brake as my final compliance part.

I want to blast and park the rifle. I just got an air brush kit and plan to DuraCoat the gun in satin black. I haven't decided on a barrel length, or what kind of scope to mount. I don't have a barrel wrench and I am undecided as to using a 27 mm end wrench or constructing a barrel holding devise of wooden blocks and leather inserts plus rosin.

Maybe I should try to organize a group build in the Denver area, and this will be my first build.

!!! THATS A PERFECT IDEA !!!

I'm with you Cliffy, I would LOVE to have a matching SN on my upper for this
STG build. All the other numbers match, it would be a shame to have an upper that didn't if it was possible in any way to match the SN.

The first receiver I bought in this group buy was in the 24K range, my STG kit is a 97K number, so maybe it isn't impossible?

I know I'm buying another DSA, cause they are just to darn good.

Before I send in my order, I would like an answer to that as well.
A simple YES or NO would suffice.

Thanks,

dfr

cliffy109
February 16, 2004, 19:22
Sadly, the answer is no. I finally got an e-mail from DSA explaining that they are just not equipped to handle the tracking of custom serial numbers.

I'm going to hold off my STG build for a while to see if anybody else comes out with this. Maybe if there is enough demand, DSA may change their opinion. Until then, I still have two DSA receivers I can build other kits on.

Just did the paperwork at my FFL, the DSA G1 receiver sure is purty!!! I can't wait to pick it up (stupid 10 day waiting period...) My dealer was really surprised with how much I paid for it(less than what he would've paid)

One thing I noticed about the DSA G1 reciever is that, rather than a stylized DSA Inc logo w/ a bullet across as seen engraved on their SA58 receivers, the G1 receiver has a DSA logo that is in plain, conservative letter, which matches the G1 marking style, absolutely classic!!!

Thank you DSA!!!!!!

So I'm reading over my order confirmation from the DSA GB and I see that there's supposed to be a form to check order status. Is there such a form? I've done about as much searching as I can stand over a dial-up connection and I haven't found it. This is my first FAL build and I'm trying really hard to not obsess TOO much but my StG-58 kit just looks so pitiful.

TIA,
Stay safe.

Picked up my G1 rcvr a couple of days ago. Echoing Darkest2000 above, it is a work of art the way they did the lettering. I think they should do that on all the rcvrs- very classy.

I don't think there's an official cut off, as long as the link for the group buy order form still works I think DSA will accept it.

Update: apparantly all receiver types are now backordered, it seems DSA will still accept the order, however it may be approx 2 months until the order can be filled.

No such form from what I can see, you'll just have to call DSA to found out your order status, but you probably already know that.

I ordered mine last week. Type I no cut. They said they were back-ordered for at least a month.

No biggie.

My Type II showed up a few weeks ago, and it went together quite well.

My only regret is I heard about the G1 option AFTER I bought the receiver. So, the only option is to buy a second receiver I guess.

Well as far as I'm concerned the G1 is only available in Type I, so either way you'll have to get a second receiver. No regrets!!!

Are you referring to the G1 marked receiver? In that case, it's $25 extra, which makes it $350 +shipping.

till going on....... cool.

I bought a Type 3 a few months back which is slated for one of FWRA's MOAGB HB kits, but now I'm thinking of buying a couple Type 2's for future projects. The prices will only go up, you know.

I just called to check the status of my upper from the group buy and was told the uppers are still backordered another month to month and a half.
If someone has any other information I'd be glad to hear.

Aw geez, as much as I want to use a DSA upper for my first build, those Imbel GL's I see around are starting to look better and better.

I ordered a receiver in March and was told I would have it in 6 weeks. It's been 13 weeks and when I called today, the first person said it would be another 2 to 3 months, I asked them to cancel my order, they put me on hold, then the lady with the accent came on, I told her what happened, she said she would check on it, she called me back in a half hour and told me it would be another "couple of weeks, the end of July", I pointed out that that was another 6 weeks, "oh right", I cancelled my order.

All you guys that were in line behind me. . .you're welcome :)

Where have you been seeing the GL's??

Due to requirements for new gun building, we have not had sufficient supply of receivers to fill stripped receiver orders.
We expect this situation to ease in mid July. We will fill back orders first then we will be accepting new orders.

I hope I don't get into trouble saying this to a platinum contributor but. . . the above tells me that reciever order customers need to go to the back of the bus, sit down, shut up, and wait for the driver to tell you where you are going to get off.

I don't mean to be offensive, just one honest customers opinion.

Well not to be rude but I still haven't received my latest and greatest STG 58 on order since April. Sorry but if they're that busy I would hope that full assemblies would be selected to be built off the receivers available first rather than parts for others who would be building their own conglomeration off their receivers. Of course if I actually had my STG 58 then of course I would be in the same boat as you ;)

I appreciate they want to build complete rifles but there has to be a point where they are going to fill orders that were placed months ago.

I called DSA today and ordered a US pistol grip, a para alloy lower receiver, and a semi- auto selector. While I was talking to Tina, I asked about the receiver status. She said the receivers are in the shipping process, and it depends on your confirmation number when your receiver will ship.

Yep. They're in-between runs on the Type III's. The Type I's and II's are more popular so they're focusing on those right now.

I also called monday about my type 1&2 order that I made on sunday. I hope that the person you talked to was more informed. I was told 6-8 wks and that they were going to end the group buy. I hope that she was confused. She was very helpful and confirmed that my local FFL was on file.

Hope I'm right and your wrong!
I didn't catch a name, but the person that answered the phone did my verifying and she said the back orders are being filled first. And she had the girl that was running the sale since Melissa is no longer there call me back. Again I was on the run and failed my catching a name duties. So I guess I get, what I get, when I get it!
Besides I've got three Imbel Gears to tie me over, till DSA comes through.

Well I placed the order on this thread and paid DSA on the phone and I was quite happy to discover this group buy was still in effect! I ordered two receivers a Type 1 for a G1 build and a Type 2 for an Imbel Build....

I understand there are back orders and I asked for a guess on how long and I was told about 2-months but they are selling based on when order was placed....

Thanks Jen and DSA!

Things are looking up - I called DSA this afternoon to see where I am on the list, and got an answer that surprised me a bit. They said my receivers are shipping out tomorrow!!! I'm trying not to get too excited until I know for sure that they're on their way to my FFL, but its the most encouraging answer I've gotten so far! As soon as these get here, I can start building those sweet FWRA para kits!
