A little Imbel kit review. Received my 2 Imbel kits today and for the most part, they are pretty good with only a few things "wrong".

Kit 1: Handpicked. Barrel was very good. Finish wear from the gas block forward. Handgaurds will need a lot of work but I planned on replacing them anyway. The lower was in very good or better condition and looks to have been fired very little. The buttstock and pistol grip will be relaced.

Kit 2: I thought I paid for 2 handpicked kits but I must have goofed when I ordered. Barrel has frosting near the muzzle and the chamber and I won't be using it. Handgaurds are pretty beat up but they will be replaced along with the pistol grip and buttstock. The lower is very good or better and looks to have been fired very little.

The best part is that both lowers are in really good shape and will clean up nicely. Someone "South of the border" carved what looks like a cactus in one stock. VERY artistic.

The bad part is that 1 of the barrels won't be used because I'm picky when it comes to barrels and one of the kits is missing the bolt and bolt carrier.

I'll call TAPCO Friday or Monday to sort out the missing bolt and bolt carrier but there are enough good parts to make 2 nice rifles when I break out one of my spare barrels.

Respectfully,

Sean

I too ordered two of the Imbel kits from TAPCO. They both arrived today. I odered the cleaning service, and they are very clean.

Neither barrel has much finish left from the front sight forward.
But they're both have clean, sharp bores.

The lowers are in good shape, but one lower is missing the hammer plunger spring thingy. The same lower has the head of the stock tang screw broken off. No biggie, as I plan on replacing the stock/handguard/pistol grip on each kit as the furniture is pretty well scratched up.

Both came with what I figure to be small locking shoulders, .060 and .054. I'll see what size they require when I match the barrels to their Gear Logo receivers sometime next week.

Overall I'm pleased with the condition of the kits.:)
