I had just removed the gas tube receiver nut and was inspecting the carry handle. While I was looking at the handle, I thought I heard something small and metal hit the floor. I got the flashlight and looked, but I didn't see anything. Should I look again, or was it my imagination?
Thanks,

If you've got the gas tube nut, the carry handle, and the gas tube, you've got everything. But you didn't say much about the gas regulator ring, and the gas tube retaining pin. Depending on the type of carry handle you have, is it complete? Is the handle held on the wire, or is something missing? :? :fal:

Yeah, I've got the gas tube nut, gas tube, and carry handle. I hadn't taken the gas regulator off at the time of my post. I have since removed the regulator, pin and tube. I guess it was just a piece of trash on the work bench that fell. Next, I cut the receiver stub off. It was alot easier than I thought it would be. I cleaned the barrel threads, and it indexed to the receiver right at 10:30! I'm so excited... I don't have any specialty tools yet, but I hope to in the next few days. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.
Thanks,
jamesq
