If you ever run across an oddball headstamp, commercial or military, and wonder what it is or where it came from, this list may help identify it. The list is quite long, so be patient as it loads.

This is a great list. It has helped me identify cartridges that I couldn't find anywhere else. Its actually a catalog of cartridges for sell. Although you would think that it must have every 7.62x51 headstamp ever produced, it doesn't (but it almost does).

I've got some AP (blacktip) stamped "HE, 7.62" and "H1, 7.62" that is not in the above list. Can anyone indentify it?

H1 & HD are Singapore 7.62 headstamps. I still have some and it shoots really good. When i mix it in with my PMP SA ammo I can't tell any difference in looks or shooting.

This list is not quite so complete as the one linked above, but it is very good for US and Commonwealth headstamps - and very easy to use. Steinhauer List (http://members.shaw.ca/cstein0/uscenter.htm)

I just bought some Portugese 7.62x51. The headstamp is BF 79-52. I am guessing the year on Manu. was 1979??
