View Full Version : L1A1 ejection problem. help!

My L1A1 has a wierd ejection problem when fired or hand cycled. Looking down on the reciever from top with loaded mag. when the cartridge on the right is fed into chamber & ejected it's as it should be. When the cartridge on the left is fed & extracted the case sometimes hangs up in dustcover, but ejection is always erratic. Allways on the left, what could cause this? Rick G.

I would vote for an incorrectly-located ejector. Lots of 'em out there. Pretty hard to correct.
What kind of receiver?

I'm ashamed to say it's a Century inch. I kind of thought it might be the ejector as I had to dremel it to get the bolt & carrier to travel without binding. Rick/ What would be the easiest fix besides getting a better reciever. could I drive out the top pin & replace the ejector?

It depends on what type of ejector block is installed. A metric e-block has a replacable ejector. An inch pattern is all one piece with the ejector integral with the e-block. Both of my Century US made recievers have inch pattern e-blocks.

once chambered, the ejector should have no preference with its job......I would look at thr possibility of the extracted case comming in contact with the next in line shoulder (mag sitting too high in its nest???) orca :?

Thanks for the suggestions where to start looking for a fix. The mags do fit extremely tight, no movement at all. I'll start there & see where it leads. Rick G.
