Can any one please tell me if there is a table by serial number of when the 50.63 made the transition from forged receivers to investment castings? And should such a table exist, where I might be able to find it. I'm looking to purchase a Pre Ban weapon and want to make sure of the receiver type. Help guys.

Thanks Limeyinaz, I had a feeling that was going to be the case. The rifle I'm looking at is a Howco.

I've never seen the definitive answer, but FN adopted the I/C system shortly after developing the Type 3 in 1973. Which SN makes the break would require a trip to Herstal. Hmm, maybe next summer?

And all Belgian (FN) Type I and IIs are Forged.
Imbel Type IIIs are forged as well.

What about the Argy pre-bans floating around.

Are they forged?
