Ok, I have a 3 old Rhody Lowers. I have been doing some research on them and found out that one of them that is stamped U-M intact (stands for Union SA Military -- Thanks to OLDMANPBK for help on that one!). All indications are that this one is IMBEL based on the fact that it also has the Serial Number ZA, and I read where Zimbabwe imported their FALs from Imbel. It must have somehow found its way to SA to get the UM Stamp?

The Second Lower I have also had (key word is "HAD") the UM in place but was sterilized via Drill-hole.

Which brings us to the third Lower: https://i.imgur.com/se8EeH1.jpg As you can see, there is a distinct "oval" in the lower corner. I read where some of the SA parts that were manufactured in "Pretoria" have a Oval-P. Problem is...there doesn't seem to be a "P" in this oval. Does anyone recognize this Acceptance Mark? Maybe you have one that looks just like it and has something stamped inside the oval?

Next, I discovered this Oddball Swivel Swing that was hanging out in my Parts Bin. It doesn't look like the two go together...So lets start with this one:
Here is the Sling Swivel Lying Flat: https://i.imgur.com/71ys7qk.jpg (notice how it has a couple ears sticking out? Not like the ones I am use to) and here is a picture of an acceptance mark on the top: https://i.imgur.com/H3mVNJS.jpg (I can't remember recall seeing this 3-Hash acceptance mark stamped on any hardware?) Is this Inch? Here is a Gas Tube Nut that has the same 3-Hash Marks: https://i.imgur.com/TnZTWAE.jpg?1 and is also stamped with...what looks to be... an Up-Side-Down "G": https://i.imgur.com/oPGC8jc.jpg?1

Finally, here is the Loop part that has a couple Anchors that has got me lost: https://i.imgur.com/SwTrCo4.jpg They don't really line up with anything. Maybe this is actually a Set that goes to some oddball FAL or something (One is the front and the other is the back?????)

This Blasted Up-Side-Down "G" is driving me insane! Here is is on the Gasplug: https://i.imgur.com/NaVUdH7.jpg?1 and then again on the piston: https://i.imgur.com/JRXCme0.jpg?1

They're everywhere!

Thanks again everyone for your keen eye and sharp mind!

The bottom 3 piece swivel is very early FN pattern, most commonly seen these days on Israeli stocks, which retained that pattern for some time after the rotating type swivel became standard.https://i.imgur.com/SwTrCo4.jpg

The front swivel band is a Commonwealth L1A1 pattern.https://i.imgur.com/71ys7qk.jpg

I wonder if the empty oval could just be a misstamp ?

If you indicate that the 3-Hash Mark Stamp is Inch (L1A1), then the Upside down "G" and all the other parts stamped with it, are Commonwealth?

What Manufacturer is the "G"? Anyone recognize?

Thanks!

Does anyone know what manufacturing plant the stuff comes from? It all makes sense now, because I read where the British had L1's in Rhodesia before The Bush War. Once the conflict started...the embargo's started as well. That is why S/A started Gun Running to Rhody to support them and ultimately L1A1 Parts made there way into S/A manufactured Guns.

Makes sense.

Now to find out where the "E&D" mark (or "G" or whatever it is) is?

You know, I can't believe that someone hasn't made up a table or something that has all the various markings and where they come from..I mean all in one document. Instead, it is pretty much a...hunt & peck... then...wait & see..if you can find the ID of the mark on the net or someone recognizes it.

Maybe one has already been created and is buried in the vaults of FalFiles?

L1A1 parts would not have been on any SA produced rifle in Rhodesia nor South Africa. If you are basing your conclusion on parts kits here in the US there is absolutely nothing you can conclude from them, they were imported as a mix of every metric and inch rifle that was put up for surplus sale, most of them in poor condition, demilled, thrown into piles and then separated out as kits. There was little to no attempt to keep anything separated as complete rifles. When you are selling them for $99 retail there is zero room for extra labor to be bothered with keeping things together. It's a shame but it's the way things were done at that time.

Now to find out where the "E&D" mark (or "G" or whatever it is) is?

E inside of D (or G as you called it) is Enfield.

There is plenty of easily found info here about all of these markings that can be found via a simple Google search.

I thought the 'very early' ones were like the bottom version here (https://photos.app.goo.gl/U259i7uRiTRf9O8G2) and the 'early' ones (on the top) had the wider inner plate and are found on Izzy stocks? (no, it's not for sale...that damn original little plate was a mother-effer to find)

That is what I thought too....however some of the parts that I got from a Rhody Kit Pile...had remnants of the Camo Paint on them...for instance the Gas Plug. But somehow, they made their way onto S/A Cobbled RA rifles...

I have to admit, it was a very interesting conflict to read about regarding the FALs involved (Gun Running, Embargoes, Zimbabwe, Sanitizing UM Marks etc.)

...and lets not forget BABY-POOP!
