Gents.

Just off the phone...a long time friend had a box of new metric FAL mags. still in the wrap, and is giving them to me for my DSA FAL. That's quite a score, IMHO. Don't know the maker. I'll know more when they arrive next week.

Where have all the surplus mags gone? I would think that they would be afloat in them, but not so, at least I can't find many.

I have some Moses mags and they lock up tight, but work well. Any comments about that brand/maker.

Be gentle, I'm a newbie.

4 X 401,

I have one DSA marked mag(not impressed, but it works. Eight Moses mags that lock up tight, but run perfectly. I'm hoping for quality surplus mags from some maker. Lord knows there should be Belgian, German, Isreali, South African, etc. mags out there.

Didn't even know the Koreans made FAL mags...

Good suplus mags come up in the marketplace here often...you just missed a bunch. So if you're still looking, check there OFTEN. :D

Factory mags are not uncommon. They were hoarded by many when the mags were dirt cheap. Now that the mags sell for around $15-$20 each (which is still relatively inexpensive IMHO), they routinely trickle onto ththe marketplace. As already stated, keep your eyes peeled in Marketplace.

I have over 150 in stock right now. Reparked a long time ago 1 @ $28, 5+ @ $25.

+1 .....

If the mags have witness holes on the back, check the lower front for writing (may have to put a dab of oil to see it). If it says (7.62 or .308) on the front, they are Korean.

I'd think $40 a mag is high.

Which shop is that. I haven't seen FAL stuff in local shops for some time. So I've pretty much stopped roaming them. Even the Gunshow has less and less every time. Down to about 2 tables now with parts, however complete rifle shows up every now and then at other tables.

Gun shop can ask whatever they want. If they are too much, they will sit.
Shops have to make profit,to stay in business. Some do it by pumping volume thru, others,by higher retail prices.

Offer him half and negotiate from there. He may not budge but at least it's worth a shot. At $40 a mag he'll probably have them until we all die in a fiery flood

I report, you decide. I'm certainly not paying that! But maybe an FN owner might want to fork out the dough for collector purposes. Here's the link:
