Does anyone think this is genuine, I thought Rhodesia did not exist in 1988, and there is no babypoop in the paint scheme..

I believe they were made in "woodland" and "desert" camo patterns.

Factory woodland camo. I don't know why he thinks it has anything to do with Rhodesia.

Not factory, and nothing to do with Rhodesia. Those were imported first and then painted.

87-88. Same years they did the painted mags.

That was painted recently, while the mag was inserted, and there's no wear on the painted surface of the grip or hand guard.

LOL. The first thing I thought of when I clicked the link was "ugly" and didn't give it a closer look.

No factory paint on that gun. Once you look past the ugly you see a real german HK91, however. And currently at $1350, a great price. I wonder how high it will go.
One comment bugs me, the "factory pinned" brake? I don't think so, Tim. Unless someone buggered it it should be threaded and free spinning. And that's no brake.

Yep that's a homemade krylon job, not factory.

I'll have to dig out my lone factory Nato camo mag that I bought back in the day. Mags and accessories were hard to find back in the 1980s.

As lew noted, it is not factory, but it is OEM.

HK had the rifles painted here prior to initial sale. I believe the company was in Florida. There was a woodland and a baby poop pattern.

There were early factory HK 93s that came in with welded flash hiders because they used HK 33 barrels and were discovered to have 15.35" barrels (390mm). I do not believe any were pinned.
The ejection port buffer is not original. The color is right.

I haven't photographed enough examples to be certain. I "feel" like something isn't right. But I can't my finger on it.

Here's an example of a 93 import with 33 barrel welded.

The FH just doesn't look right.

The FH just doesn't look right.

It's longer than standard, but that was normal on that run of 93/33. I've not seen it on a G3/91

He might be looking at the spring clip and seeing where it comes out the other side and assuming that its pinned? The finish on it looks way off of the barrels finish. Parkerized or no finish on it?
