Figured I would start a build thread on this one. Bought kit in thread below.

Just got off the phone with DSA, ordered a type II and will certainly keep everyone informed on how the receiver specs out. I'm going for a loose R1 inspired rifal. Here's a link to an old thread that got my gears going in this direction.

I'll need to source a type II lower now, if anyone wants to work out a trade for the ZA marked Imbel lower just shoot me a pm. The hand guards this kit came with are about 85-90%, most of the smalls look new. Bore is chrome lined and gauges as new. It has proof marks all over it, I'm by no means an expert so it's a new quest. Will update with pics as things move along.

Killer, and good luck and Godspeed on the build. I'm sure you've looked through the SA/Rhodesian photo thread tacked up top.

I said I wouldn't build another, but I have a 17.3" barrel and an SA long stock laying around. I saw a picture of an FN in Rhodesian service with an 18" barrel, regular stock, so it's on!:D Also gives me an excuse to paint another rifle.:)

Lew,

If you have that picture, can you post it? I have a 18 inch South African barrel and parts to build another R1 but would like to see a picture of one in service.

You'll need to be a member to view it, but the picture is in the following thread:

Of the three RLI troopies, the bloke on the right.

I have the picture on my home computer, but I'm at work.
