Old school folding stock and looks like has right patina but not an SKS expert by any means. Can get way cheap and if preban put an original stock, leave bayonet off and sell into a ban state if choose.

Any info can get on this rifle is appreciated. Do not need anymore SKS's unless bargain pre ban units.

If it's preban that stock is going to fleabay for someone to ruin a post ban SKS. Then I will put it back to close as right as can and of value in ban states. It's sad, isn't it?

This site had more detailed information which looks to date the abortion as made in 1972.

http://chinesesks.weebly.com/dating-the-chinese-sks.html

Guess I will go rescue it Monday. If someone is better at dating and I have my date wrong please let me know but it seems to be worth price being asked.

That website should date it up for you or Survivor's SKS forums
be warned, high Tard Level on Survivors.
Up here Chicoms run around $300+ for rather clean examples, just a ton of them in MN mostly due to Federal Firearms being based in Fridley back in the day.

If you don't have a bayo drop me a PM, pretty certain I still have both spike and maybe one blade.

Here's a real abortion we still have
VietNam Jungle Workshop SKS conversion. 67' vintage gun reworked into a faux AK. Was in a late relatives collection. Butt seems to be French Lebel carbine. Lower & Mag are hand folded and brazed unfortunatly we never were able to find the DD he had on it

Gun came here in 1970, guy was USMC, seem to recall he stated it came out of the Da Nang area. Some VC spent serious time on this one

Was probably imported long after it was mfg; Late 1980's is probable.

Tons of them were sold for $79.00 at every gun show from 1986 on, many in pristine condition.

I converted several, using a $35.00 kit, that looked identical to your unit, with mag conversion, 30 years ago, long before any bans.
That was before the AK flood, and just before the '89 ban that brought in all those foolish thumbhole stocks, on AK's.

Still have New In Box preban SKS's that were $79 with 600 round tin of steel core ammo, SKS-M's that were $99 withone magazine and 600 round tin of ammo, plus $125 AK's that came with ten round mag and 30 round mag and 600 round tin of ammo. Odd thing is didn't come from gun shows or even a gun shop. Had a discount store in the local mall that sold inexpensive firearms of all types. During early and mid 1980's went almost every Friday and bought a rifle for alost two full years before mall was sold to yankee investment company and new owners didn't want guns sold in their shopping mall. Tried to buy two SKS's per month, one SKS-M and one AK. If had known SKS-M's were going to spike so hard in price would have done two of those per month and should have bought an AK per week.

Assumed the store would have them forever as few rednecks around here were interested and real gun guys turned their noses up at them. During Bush ban and Sandy Hook made some serious bank off the big stacks of combloc rifles. Had so many stored them in their boxes stacked like firewood. No way could have bought enough vaults to hold them initially. Sandy Hook was almost like being the only crack dealer in Atlanta with product and the cops in my pocket. Had SKS's by the dozens all with 600 round tins of ammo and AK's with magazines and ammo. Lurked at gun shop and when shelves were empty and client came in totally panicked would look at LGS owner for the nod, take them outside and in five minutes were back in with buyer paying $25 for them to do a 4473. That way all got run through gun shop book and work got out seemed to be a lot of combloc rifles around them.

Always had bricks of rim fire ammo in the truck as well and banked a pile of cash. When panic ended and glut began turned every one of those combloc rifles into two to four AR 15 builds or an FAL kit, etc. When able to convert combloc rifles into nice rifles and line pockets with cash it's always a good thing. Have just enough left for one more panic though more likely to sell AR builds and keep the preban commie guns now. Would like to see the any AR is $1,000 bill and up days again for at least a few months then drop. Was funny watching all the guys bringing AR'shad paid $1,200 for back to LGS and return for full refund saying had never been out of box when they had them down in $600 range on racks. Lot of men left really mad. Learned the key during a panic is having ammo for rifles selling doubles the value of both if abe to package them.

Now always looking for deals on molested pre bans in anything and putting back to original configuration to flip if opportunity arises. Most likely will pick this up today and get it fixed and put back for next panic and have a little fun with it in the meantime.
