Back in the 80's I went through a few 7.62X51 NATO rifles until I found the one that worked best for me. I had four different M1A's, a HK 91A3 and then found the FAL. The first was an Israeli Heavy Barrel SAR-48, then a standard SAR-48 and finally a Bush Rifle SAR-48 that I owned from 1989 until the great divorce sell off of 2011. After relocating to Texas I realized that I needed to get back into the 7.62x51 I started all over again. I picked up two M14 clones and a PTR 91 but knew that I would have to get another FAL. I never really liked the DSA rifles or FAL's made from kits. Belgian FAL's although very nice, I have always thought were over priced. So that led me back to the Springfield SAR-48 made in Brazil by Imbel on FN licensed machinery. They are very nice rifles.

I had been looking off and on and finally decided to get serious about a month ago. I found a nice looking one on GB and decided to put a bid and I broke the reserve and won it. It came in the other day and it is a fine rifle, it may have been someone's safe queen but it will see plenty of daylight with me. It is like going back in time 30 years, very cool.

One nice thing about now is that I don't have to trade off to get something new, it is nice to have choices!

That's a damned handsome rifle, and the rest of the collection looks pretty sharp, too. Well done.

Don't I know how that goes...I had one of those...same year in fact, just after a deployment.

Nice set, by the way!
