Hi everyone!

I just entered the FAL world just on good luck. I had a Century built Polish Tantal and I traded it evenly for a DS Arms Grayslake reciever SA58. I took it all apart and it seems to be all STG58 parts (including barrel). It also looks like it's barely been shot. I think I definitely got the upper hand on the trade, but the other party new and really wanted my Tantal. So far I'm loving it. My poor PTR will probably be in the safe for awhile as shooting this is just a pleasure. Obligatory pics!

Nice score! Looks like a DSA muzzle brake though. If my memory is correct, someone once refrerred to it as a "blast enhancer". That said...

Points awarded for a mag inserted in the rifle.

No feet in the pic. That's OK as you might have luxurious carpet, and I don't care to see another mans toenails.

No beverage in the pic. OK if you don't drink, just throw a Coke down there.

Welcome!

No serial # on other side of that barrel?
Milled off serial # under the lock lever?

I purposely try to keep my gorgeous feet out of the pics because I don't want other men fantasizing about them:rofl:.

The brake is permanently affixed so that leads me to believe that it's a ban era gun (also the early receiver). The funny thing is that I called DSA and asked for a production date (I'm actually 20 minutes away from them) and they said that it was built in 2009 (which doesn't make any sense since they would have been producing their own cast receivers and they were already at Lake Barrington for years).

No, no serial number anywhere other than the receiver.

It did take awhile to get approved. I am picking up my new to me SAR 48 from my FFL this week, this will be my re entry into the FAL world, I have had three SAR 48ís in the past, sold the last one about 6 years ago, they are a very classy rifle!

Sure some guys here have done it. Just ask around. Hopefully just pinned and the threads are intact. We have guys that have taken off brazed FHs. Those brakes are loud. Nice score with the upper receiver.

Brake removal with a pipe cutter and a dremel is an easy job.

Well I do have a dremel, but. It a pipe cutter. I actually don't mind the brake too much as it does work well.

Traded for an AK? You stole it, you evil bastard.

Aside from the muzzle brake, that is an excellent score. I'd get the muzzle squared away with a combo device.

That seems to be the route I'm going. Gotta take it back to its originally glory
