Would like to know as well. Bought 2 from CDNN, turned out it was for the Pre B. So I had to get one to use the magazines with.. :)

I usually buy Mec-Gar, but in a pinch OEM's (probly Mec gars) will do.

Midway has Mec Gar 16 rounders for $23 and a upgraded version for $29. They also have OEM CZ mags for about double the price.

Hagar; Are these the ones? Would think they would mark them as Pre B if so. I thought the Pre B mags were hard to find.

I got a few from MidwayUSA...they carry both OEM and Mec-Gar. The Mec-Gar magazines have always functioned perfectly for me.

Don't know, it was a couple of years ago. They did not fit my B model, put too much tension on the slide, but work well with my Pre B.

Thanks, guys :beer::beer:

Just picked up a NIB 75SA for $430. I like it a lot, but I don't think it's going to replace my HiPower as my preferred carry gun.

CDNN has a special on CZ OEM 9mm 16 round mags at $19.95. Jumped on some of them as well as a couple of 17 rd Mec-Gars. Alwys had flawless functioning with Mec-Gars, so having a couple around is good for the soul !

Thanks again, guys. As usual, good advice here

Give it time, they grow on you.

I do like an HP, always have, but for me the CZ is the better handling pistol.

Oh, I like the CZ already, and I certainly need to get more familiar with it, but it is already obvious to me that the HP fits my hand significantly better, with a shorter reach to the trigger. A bit lighter than the CZ as well. Also the HP safety on my pistol ( which has been extended ) is a much more natural fit and function for me. With the HP mag disconnect removed and a bit of tuning, I don't see the CZ as offering any significant advantage over the HP for me. But the CZ is a close second, and I'm sure I will enjoy owning it.

My thinking is that with the discontinuation of HP production, an already expensive pistol is going to become even more expensive over time. My unmodified original FN HPs may likely become too valuable to modify as reserve carry weapons, so the CZ seemed a natural and cost effective alternative. I see the CZ as a definite keeper, and a great supplement to the HP, but for the present it won't replace the HP as my preferred carry pistol.

You may be interested in the other models of the CZ - like the RAMI. Same mechanics, etc. but much smaller than a 75 or a HP. And, available new and not a collector piece.

I miss my BHP, as I seem to do with most firearms I've parted with. They are a impressive classic for sure. Mine was purchased in '67 during my military time while stationed in Calif. It was a beautiful blued model with the Tangent rear sight. I got a kick out of that sight with its 600 yd sight setting.

I do have a Browning, but it's a BDM, a double action similar in size to a HP, but an entirely different animal. Only made from '93 to '98 I believe, it's a shame they have been discontinued. I don't see these pistols becoming sought after collector pieces as the HP likely will as you point out. They don't have the history and legendary status the BHP deservedly enjoyed.

Hadn't heard that the HP is being discontinued, tell me it ain't true!

As for the CZ, no safety needed, just pull the trigger. About as "dumb-ass" proof as you can get. I have two models of the 75, one equipped with a Decocker and the other with a standard type Thumb safety, neither of which needs to be operated in an emergency situation.
As a diehard 1911 fan, Decockers are something I'm getting used to, but still don't use much.

I have a 75B Compact. Love it to death. But can't stand the mag base cap biting into my little finger when firing. Got some of these and they make a world of difference:

They also sell OEM 3 packs of mags for around $109. I got a couple of those too.

That's what I've heard from a couple of folks, subject to confirmation, though.

Got the CZ75B SA I figured I may as well stick with what I know. Old dogs, new tricks, y'know :)

Another victim of anti-gun hysteria. These showed up about the time Clinton managed to enact the odious "Crime Bill". Truly bad timing. Browning had a new gun built to hold 15 rounds and being forced to make 10 round mags for it. With many competitors that had grandfathered std cap mags, the BDM didn't attract much attention. The police didn't really like it more than a Glock.

See what Browning has to say:

Seems a bit harsh. Haven't shot the new toy very much yet, but it seems dead stone reliable, more accurate than any stock Hipower I have shot. HP still feels a bit better to my hand, but not by that much.

Hey, do you still have the mags for the Pre-B? I have the commie version and thought I had the right one, but no go. Need the skinny mag.

They're great guns without a doubt. Old world commie quality!:)
