picked up an old colt commander in 9mm. slide markings sem to be correct but all that's on the frame is serial #71xx L.W. , no colt markings at all,
anyone have any idea about this? was told i5 was mid 50s manufacture,

1951 for this Lightweight and beginning of the *Commander* series.

*notice the lack of a Hartford address above the grip panel

Colt publishes the SN series on their site. Have 308 and it was 54

No markings on the frame other than the serial number, 116XX-LW on my 9mm Commander.
