Fed 22 ammo is back down to $0.062 cents per round

One day I noted that Big 5 was having a sale. 550 round boxes of the Federal bulk .22 for $25. I bought 20 cases @ 4 boxes/case (IIRC). Repackaged in 100 round ziplocks (which have since turned a weird yellow). Was thinking it would be good currency in the coming collapse. Then the ammo panic thing hit, so I stopped shooting it. It was pretty weird to have 5.45x39 cheaper than .22LR. Guess it's time to shoot it again.

During the .22LR craziness my dad paid a tool rental guy with a half used box of .22 that had been in his truck door for years. The dude was tickled to death too. 6 cents still seems too much to me but I guess I need to give that up.

I sold 20 x 525 round boxes for $50 each at a gun show a couple of years ago - to a dealer who marked them for $80 each and sold out before the show was done.

I was in them $12.50 to $15.00. Now I think that $0.05 to $0.06 is the new 'floor' since everyone thinks it's a "deal".

Been saying for nigh on a decade now that when we get back to near $200 a case (5000) for .22 LR the shortage will officially be over.
Well, that time is now for Aguila SE SV and likely others.

paid $2.59 50 round box for them at sportsmans last week

Its funny how .22's were $.01/round for over 100 years. It was not that long ago. I would buy 1-2 bricks every time i went into Walmart. Manufacturers now know we will pay more. I would hate to pay $25/brick.

Back down to 5 cents per round around here at wal-fart.

Another store had 525 packs for $24.95.

Doubt it'll get much better than that though.

I have been finding $19.99 on occasion with limits. Sold over 100,000 rounds of Walmart fodder during Sandy Hook. Almost time to fully restock.

If .05c per round will entice quality manufacturers to keep the shelves packed with product then I am happy to pay that. It isn't 2001 anymore fellas.

CCI recently opened a new rimfire ammo plant in Lewiston, ID and the Goddess of 22 smiled upon us. :D

Too provocative? Try this one, then.

Wally had the 325rd. Federal AutoMatch for $14.84 yesterday - no limit and no sales tax in NH. About 4.5/rd.

I bought another 4K or so of Federal a month or so ago online for a nickel and a half each, shipped to my door. The wife unit goes though a lot in her S&W MP15-22 :)

FWIW-In the Allen brand AR rifle soft cases, there are 4 pockets. 3 are only wife enough for mags, but the 4th is wide enough for a small plastic tackle box.

A small plastic tackle box that is down to 50-ish rounds of 22lr will still hold a 325 box of Federal for a re-fill.

Just sayin......

That whole .22 thing pissed me off. We had LGS owners running to walmart to buy everything to take it back to their shop so they can triple their money. Pretty sad. It was almost 5 years before i bought any.
Folks kept buying the b.s. that the shortage was hoarder induced. Couple things come to mind. 1 just because "ammo is being hoarded" what justified the price hike? And 2, i travel ALOT, and i goto walmarts and lgs all over to take the overall temperature of the state of things. One time down in Corpus Christi, walmart was blowing out that cheap .308 ZQI for $7 a box. Im still shootin on that crap! One thing i noticed was common to sporting goods department managers across the country. They all said nearly the exact same thing. "You cant hoard ammo that never was delivered to the store". They all said the shipments just stopped.
Now right after the inauguration, walmart had some bulk. And now i see it everytime i go.
So what happened? Did the hoarders suddenly stop?
One thing is certain, the price still has not came back down. I feel the whole thing was engineered. From way back when the lead smelting industry was targeted by the EPA.
The best way to kill the 2A is make sure the next generation of 2A defenders never get started.
There was a good bit that airgun pellets were missing from retailers shelves. Its all lead you say? What about all the 5000 round bb packs that were suddenly gone as well? Cmon man. Its just steel. No reason for that at all.

I think I remember obama giving a speech about how it only cost 2 cents to kill someone. Raising that price to 6 cents probably seemed like progress to him.
