View Full Version : Locking shoulder issues

Finally got my L1 A1 barreled up and ready to go. It is an Imbel inch cut. I currently have a .260 locking shoulder which is giving me a very easy bolt closure. I'm quite sure moving to a .261 will give me the headspace I am looking for. The issue is the Locking shoulder I currently have will easily slide in and out of the receiver. Spinning it in the calipers on the ends gives me a measurement of .294 just trying to confirm that I should need a number three oversized based on the charts I am seeing. Thanks

The L1A1 chart I have doesn't list .294" as a shaft dia. The smallest is .2978" followed by .2982", .2990", and .2998".

Possibly you misread your calipers or somebody has been monkeying with that LS?

Actually now that you mention it as I'm driving I'm thinking that I may have recalibrated them to use with a bullet comparator and not set the dial back to zero. I will check again this evening. thanks that could have been an expensive mistake.
