Would you happen to be trading an M1A for it?

IMBEL Gear Logo Receiver = Excellent upper
DSA scope mount dust cover = best of its type
Steyr lower receiver = very, very good

Century Arms International = Angry Beavers or Drunken Monkeys. Depending on the day it was assembled: pure hit or miss. Not recognized as fine craftsmen.

Verdict: Very Good Bones, the parts may be worth more individually. That receiver alone is $500+ in most cases.

DSA vomit on a decent upper, with some weird muzzle attachment. get a real dust cover and learn how to use open sights while you still can.
get some wood furniture and paint the steel with bake on duplicolor 1630 engine enamel at 200* till it stops stinking. then let air cool, reassemble, and shoot.

What's funny is that almost everyone's been telling him not to do it.

Looks like an Advanced Armament Blackout brake; I believe it's threaded for suppressor use.

Yep - 51T, I think, but it might be the older one with less teeth, too much shadow to tell.

Also - CAI trigger and grip, so likely was a CAI build.

DSA X stock - meh, I don't care for it, but it is sound.

Value around $1000. Add $20/mag after the first. Not really into M1As but isn't the base model SA around $1300 new? I prefer the FAL to the M1A but it seems the trade is a bit in the other guy's favor.

Combine the suppressor mount and a CAI (FA INC) probable 2-piece piston, and I'll be the piston is bent. no problem to replace.

Based on market value? Absolutely, but the FAL's a far superior rifle in most other categories.

Yep, just market value. I don't quantify spiritual value. As you know, AZ is a pretty competitive market so maybe add 10-15% in other parts of the country.

Well, the trade was done. The other party was showing off pictures of the M1A for which it was traded.

Yep deal is done, and I think we are both happy with the deal. I am sure cost wise that he got the better end of the deal, but I am still satisfied and that is all that matters.
It looks much better in person than it does in pics. I have field stripped it and cleaned it so I know a little more about it now. I am not sure where the parts came from, but as was pointed out, it has a century fcg, so it is most likely a century build or a homebuilder build.
Numbers on bolt and carrier are different, but they seem to be a perfect fit with very little play. The piston is a one piece tapco (bleh tapco) and was filthy and very difficult to remove, but after cleaning, goes back together very well. The muzzle device is an AAC 18t flashhider. Shame it isn't 51t as I have an SDN6 suppressor. I will be looking to change that out before too long. DSA x-stock and handguards.
This is my first FAL and I heard a lot of people saying the triggers are normally pretty heavy, but this one feels like a battle rifle trigger should to me.

I have more of the 51T mounts for LH FAL barrels than I need... I thought they were discontinued so bought a few...

I run an SDN6 on my 11.5" (that is a RH thread)...

If you find they are not available, PM me.

That is all that matters. Both are suitable and fun rifles. Enjoy.

Enjoy it and do some mods like the weird ass stock going away. But you're behind the lines and don't know what to recommend for FCG and stuff. Enjoy and remember that it only starts costing more from here out:D

Nah Im not behind lines, just a couple hundred miles from you. I was planning on getting rid of the stock first thing, but in person I really don't mind it too much. Only mod I really planning on doing is refinishing it, probably cerakote flat black or something similar. Also need to get a 51t flash hider and some taller rings so I can try my scope out.

Here are a few pics from when I got home. Dogs dont know what to think:

Full boxer, picture must be at a weird angle to make him look off, lol

Oh OK. Good folks on the Files in TX. Get rid of the fire control parts. As far as the scope, most of us use low rings and grind the rail to clear the eyepiece if it's a scope we like. Low is the best because of the comb angle on the stock. Welcome

Cool dog looks bigger than the other boxer. Don't know if I have ever seen a black one

A far better solution than tall rings is a scope with enough eye relief to clear the rear sight on low rings. Anything else is just kidding yourself, IMHO.

The existing muzzle device may not be aesthetically pleasing, but it will work very well.

What are the markings on the barrel? The Steyr lower makes me think it's a Steyr barrel. A Steyr/Imbel combo is about as good as you can get.

Only markings on the barrel I can find are what look to be a dot matrix QH?

ETA: Also found a "T" stamped on the bottom of the barrel

I don't want tall rings. This is my first FAL, not my first rifle. I just need some that are tall enough for my scope to clear the rail. The ones I have right now are low rings and the eyepiece and objective both hit the rail. I am pretty sure I can clear with medium rings.

As far as the muzzle device is concerned, I need to change it to a 51t that will work with my supressor.

Ah, that makes more sense

An awful lot of folks try to fit scopes that don't clear the rear sight. IMHO, a poor setup.
