Is this a good deal or not?
do you use an AR 15 or AR 10 Lower with this?
Anybody here done it with this caliber?
TIA

You use any in-spec AR-15 lower receiver. With 6.5 Grendel the barrel, bolt and mag are the only thing different than a 5.56 AR. I'm not familiar with that upper but at that price you can't go wrong.

Only thing is I've heard if you want to take advantage of all the Grendel has to offer you want a 20" barrel especially if you plan to shoot long range.

Had a two over the years, sold of both barrels and swapped to other cartridges. could not really do anything with them that couldn't get done with my standard cartridges. Looking at a 6.5x300 WSM custom bolt action currently. 6.5 needs to have a high quality barrel and some length to get its real potential. Its not for a carbine length rifle but 20" would be a good start though 24* would be better.

Yeah. I'm not an expert, but if I were looking at 6.5 Grendel and only shooting a 16" barrel, I'd be asking myself if I shouldn't just be grabbing an AK...

Yeah, I would pass on it being that inorder to get the most out the 6.5 Grendel you need a 20 inch barrel at a minimum other wise it's a waste. Also the M4 cut barrel also doesn't help with keeping the barrel ridged.

I haven't built a 6.5 yet but have been studying and looking at this round for more than 10 years.

Nonsense, go look at the ballistic charts 6.5 Grendel does fine in a 16" barrel. You only need a 20" barrel if you plan to shoot 1,000 yards.
