Started out last week as an A3 when it arrived.

I had a Century with the stainless receiver many years ago right after Century started selling them.

It never did run right even after fixing the ejector. The shelf on the lower was never welded correctly. I ditched it a year or so later. But I always had a thing for the HK G3/91 rifle from then on.

Bought a JLD when they started making the 91 copy and that damned thing wouldn't run on surplus ammo. Although the build was really nice. Chamber too tight or not enough flutes. I sent it back twice and they told me I had to shoot Federal Match ammo through it. Sorry, not this guy. My pockets aren't that deep to shoot that stuff. I ditched that one too because they wouldn't make it right and I told anyone who would listen back then.

In the mean time I built a wonderful StG.58 from a matching new kit on an Imbel receiver that a lucky member here now owns since last October.

Last Wednesday I picked up a new PTR91GI. Atlantic never has any rifles in stock when I have money and this purchase was no exception. My dealer got this for me from Zander's Sporting Goods which is about a 2 mile drive from here and I had it in a day.

I ordered the retactable stock from HKParts.net, the EOTech 512 from Sportsman's Guide and saved a bundle on my AAFES card and $75 rebate. Four addition mags from GunBroker, and the sling ambi pins from RTGParts.

There is still a wide hand guard in transit from a seller on GB and a pair of HK 1.5" sling hooks from HKParts.net. I was going to wait to post the photos until the wide handguard arrived, but what the heck, here it is:

This is the configuration I always wanted for this rifle. Something maneuverable, but with a 7,62x51 cartridge. I would have opted for the 16" barrel model, but those are harder to find with the full length cocking tube. And it had to be a full length cocking tube. That's just me.

Anyway, I finally have the rifle I've really always wanted in the configuration I've always wanted it in. Weight be damned. It runs and runs well, fairly accurate at 1.5 MOA and I'm REALLY happy about that part. I was afraid it might not be as accurate as my StG.58.

Excellent! I've been so tempted to get one those from Atlantic. Love that they come with the paddle release now.

Like I said in my post, they never have anything in stock at the right time for me. I even signed up for e-mail notification about the 12" PTR91 for when it came back in stock over a year ago and have never received word, but I get all of their sales flyers in email. No spam filters on for them.

You might check GB or even your local dealer if Atlantic can't help.

My dealer told be Zander's wholesale distributor nearly alwas has the GI model in stock. That leaves it up to you to customize the configuration yourself.

I didn't mind that part though. I love buying firearm parts.

Nice G3 Clone congratulations. They tend to multiply.

Most of the 16" PTR91K Rifles still have the full length cocking tube.

Like this one.

The ones made years ago did not. (Top)

Nice! One thing that I like about the PTR91 and all HK style rifles is the ease of modifications, mine at the moment.

Great looking rifles!

I got the wide hand guard today and then re-installed the plastic stock. I'm going to keep that on and carry the retractable to the range for a few shots here and there. It will have it's place if things go to Hell down the road, but for now I'll keep using the plastic.

That's a good looking rifle. I'm glad they come with the paddle release now. I've spent enough money adding them to mine to buy one of those.

Thanks. I really like it. I liked my StG.58 too, but not like this.

Not any longer since CCL has passed. I guess I should change my location moniker.
